A person came upon a terrible hoard with 30 kittens and 22 adults. She is trying to get them all spayed/neutered and adopted. However, she saked for some help with kitten food in the meantime.

9-10-24 Another cat colony needs help

Another hidden cat colony in need of help. This was found at an old trailer park that was sold and is now empty. Apparently everyone who had cats dumped them and moved away. There are a few individuals and rescues trying to help the massive amount of cats but can really use help with food for the people trying to care for them. They have some in foster homes, some being tamed and a few left behind until they can get more fosters to help or space to open in shelter.

9-13-24 Luna - cat with drastic weight loss

Hi neighbors, I hate to be asking this but there's something wrong with my sweet cat. I can't afford to take her to the vet right now as we all know and experience the cost of living, for instance groceries, gasoline and bills going through the roof. My baby hasn't been eating dry food for at least 2 weeks now. I started feeding her chicken broth but there's no progress being made. If someone could recommend me an affordable vet or if you are here, please let me know. My heart is sinking. She has lost a lot of weight and I don't know if she is going to stick around for any longer. Ty and God bless you all.She is choking as if she would have something stuck in her throat and that is really scary. Please help us. 😭

9-18-24 Steven - kitty with degloved tail

This is Steven. He appeared at a feeding station of a caretaker who reached out to an FLG trapper pleading to help him. Based on his injuries, it seems Steven was likely caught in a vehicle or some other machinery. He has a large patch of hair that was burned off his hip but it regrowing, a toe with a scar and no hair, his back right leg is "wonky" (best description I have for it but basically doesn't work like it is supposed to). The most urgent issue is his tail is degloved (skin torn off) and half of it missing. We could not turn our back on Steven and agreed to coordinate trapping to at least get him off the streets and safe. At first look, our vet thinks the injuries MAY be about a month old?? That is a guess but what we KNOW is Steven needs a tail amputation. We are exploring options for that but know our usual cost of a tail amputation is $500-$1000. On top of his urgent need to help with this, we have 3-4 kittens who will need enucleations (eye removals) in the near future and each one of those surgeries will usually cost about $200-$500. Pictured along with Steven is Longhorn, a kitten recently trapped that is totally blind due to severe eye infections. Luckily we saved his eyes enough to avoid enucleations but he is one of many kittens that suffered on the streets before we trapped them and untreated eye infections can result in blindness, eye ruptures (Longhorn had the start of this but we got to him just in time) and, when severe enough, eye removal is needed.If you are able to help, please donate to help Steven with his amputation and the kittens in our care that aren't a lucky as Longhorn.

9-25-24 Jack - cat shot and needs dental work done

Meet Jack! So we thought Jack was a feral cat but he showed us otherwise!
It took us a while to trap him because he was trap Savvy and wasn't going to let it happen But we knew time was running out Because He was so sick that he was bleeding from his nose And dragging his hind legs and he was so underweight. Susan Fox finally made it happen!
He was finally trapped and we rushed him to the vet and upon intake they noticed he was bleeding from his right shoulder and so they did X-rays and found out he had been shot with a pellet gun.
We couldn't believe anybody could do this to him because he was so sweet.So we have him in our care now with amazing foster mom Kaz Cobain and he turned out to be a friendly lover who just wants to make biscuits and get as many pets as possible! He even got a well needed bath with a mani/pedi. The veterinarian estimated him at about 12 years old. And he is polydactyl front and back! We got him neutered and antibiotics but he still needs to have some dental work and he also needs to have lab work.

9-26-24 Panleuk kitten emergency

There is no vet information yet because they haven't been pulled yet. The Dollar Club can vouch for this group and this person, it is safe to donate!! THis needs to happen TODAY by 2pm EST

We have another outbreak of pan leukemia at the Rowan shelter. Our rescue is pulling as many as we can but we need donations to pay for them and their vet care. Please help!

Rowan County Animal Shelter ATTENTION!!!
A kitten that came in to our facility tested positive for Panleukopenia and possibly contaminated the other kittens that are in the same room. We have at least 16 kittens that will need to go out on foster for observation by 2 pm today. If anyone would want to come before we open at 11, we will make that happen.
